This masculine accessory is a specific element for the dinner jacket and for the formal evening dress. In both cases it is matched with the bow tie. Consequently, it is white if worn with formal evening dress and black or another dark colour when worn with dinner jacket. If you cannot find a genuine cummerbund, i.e. a cummerbund which is wrapped several times round the waist, you will have to accept a ready-made one, which must be adjustable and its pleats oriented upward. It is also advisable to check the fastening system which should not allow it to get loose. It is useless to say you cannot wear a belt under the cummerbund!
