The waistcoat is a piece of clothing designed to complete a masculine business suit. Initially created to offer some extra comfort during cold days, the waistcoat has become indispensable. Together with the business suit, it is rather a useful element than a fashion one. In other words, as Alberto Moravia noticed, “a useful piece of clothing, like the waistcoat for instance, is insignificant just because is useful”.
